The Challenge
5 Minutes Per Resume with Inconsistent, Biased Shortlisting
Manual CV evaluation took ~5 minutes per resume and was plagued by inconsistency. Shortlisting suffered from reviewer biases, knowledge gaps, and lack of standardization — causing strong candidates to be missed.
CVs arrived in multiple formats (PDF, Word, images) and languages, making any automated approach fragile.
What We Built
AI-Powered CV Evaluation and Ranking System
We built an end-to-end CV processing pipeline that extracts, normalizes, grades, and ranks candidates — turning a 5-minute manual process into seconds with higher consistency than human reviewers.
1. Universal Format Extraction
Textract and DocX libraries extract text from any file format — PDFs, Word documents, and even photographed resumes.
2. Intelligent Normalization
GPT-4o converts raw extracted text into standardized JSON, normalizing terminology across languages and formats.
3. Skill Grading Engine
AI evaluates and grades each candidate's skills against role requirements — not just keyword matching, but contextual understanding of experience level.
4. Configurable Weightage
Recruiters define keyword importance per role (e.g., Java matters more for SDE-3 than SDE-1), giving them control over how candidates are ranked.
5. Ranked Shortlist Output
Final scored and ranked candidate list with explainable rationale for each recommendation.
